Reaching Out to Others in Love

The Bible makes a positive statement about God’s being: “God is love” (1 John 4:8). God is the embodiment of love. The Bible further teaches that because God is love He sent His Son Jesus Christ to be an atoning sacrifice for our sins (v.10). Jesus’ sacrifice reveals that the nature of God’s love is holy. Holy love reaching out to others in compassion is a mark of our missionary God, who “so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son” (John 3:16). We read in Matthew’s Gospel this description of Jesus’s loving compassion: “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” (Matt. 9:35–36). God’s love has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Rom. 5:5) as well and this over flowing must reach out to others with the same love and compassion as our Lord did. This indeed is a sign that God’s love is poured into our hearts. Live with eyes wide open; paying attention to little details in the lives of people around you. Certainly, you will find opportunities to reach out in compassionate love through word and deed.

The Ministry Team

During summer vacation a team from Caleb Institute went to the city of Moga in Punjab to share the unconditional love of God revealed in Jesus Christ with school students. The children face numerous challenges and are seeking for help. The team became a channel of blessing as it highlighted the theme: “True Light in the Lies of Life.” The message was presented through various activities such as value based skits, drama and motivational games etc. Meaningful counselling sessions followed. “Within 20 days of witnessing we covered 6 schools and reached more than 7,000 students. It was a new experience for our team and a blessed time for the students and their teachers. We are invited to visit them again. Pray for students witnessing to the love of God for all people.”

He Completes Me - A Poem by Ms. Sabrina Howell
Ms. Sabrina Howell joined Caleb Institute as faculty in Department of English from June 2018.

His love completes me on the days I feel empty,
His grace fills me on the days the world condemns me,
His strength carries me through challenging moments and dreary days,
His joy makes me smile through life’s many difficult ways.
His love completes me on the days I feel empty,
His provision never lets me lack anything,
His mercy enables me to take one day at a time,
His presence is enough for me for beyond and in this life time.
